Trees in the mist – another picture of Cadnam in the New Forest

I like a square crop. And this image suited the square crop treatment well. I wanted to cut off the trees in the reflection – to have the perfect symmetry of a reflection was too obvious for this image. Sometimes the rules have to be broken. And in this case breaking those rules makes the image more interesting.

Well I think so!

I am spending much more time thinking about composition and cropping, which is definitely having a positive impact on my work.

This image has been reduced down to three elements, the tree, the land and the water. Everything else is white. Mysterious.

This is another of my pictures of 2007, which I have just rediscovered having gone through my 2007 catalogue. Well my 2007 collection in Lightroom that is.

And going through my old images has been very enjoyable. I have found photographs I had almost forgotten about like this one.

This picture was taken on my Canon 5D, which is a valuable reminder to all of us that you do not need the latest and greatest camera to produce quality images.

And another reminder – non-destructive editing in Lightroom is truly awesome. With this image I could see how I edited the image 9 years ago, and tweak that edit to my hearts content.

The cameras and the software we have are truly remarkable, and we need to remember this as we constantly demand more.

I like the simplicity of this image, which I have edited in Lightroom.

It is only a subtle edit, and I will leave this image with you and post the black and white version this afternoon.

Let me know which image you prefer.
