Yes this is a picture of a bench. A bench at one of my favourite locations that I have been fortunate to photograph in West Dorset. This image was not in my original portfolio set. But I added it in. And now I am not sure.
I have found something better so I will leave this in for now and see what goes on with the other image I have chosen which is much more striking.
No I have decided – this image goes. But then again the black and white version I have just done is great so it can stay in the set of 40.
Yes I am going to produce 40 images for my portfolio, 40 colour images and the same image set in black and white.
It stays that is the end of it. It is too easy to overthink these things…..
Why do I like this image? It's one of those some days I love it some days I don't. I like the bench under the window, with the rainwater pipe to the right.
This is quite a graphical image, containing four elements all warmed up by that golden sunlight
- A bench
- A wall
- A window
- A rainwater pipe
Don't forget, I am an architectural photographer. These things interest me. Colours, shapes, tones, different elements combining together. This single image was captured on my Canon 5D with Canon 24-105mm lens
This is a single RAW image processed in Lightroom only. Just a bit of work with the sliders here, nothing else.
The light and the four elements make this picture. A nice simple composition.
This is I believe image number 30 in my portfolio, so only 10 to go now and I am done! Thankfully I know that I will be issuing my portfolio to the BIPP for review in September, with the formal submission of 30 images being made later on this year.
And the next thing after this will be producing some new images for my home page. I am thinking of putting less images in my home page, maybe just my 6 very best images. We will see. I am becoming a fan of the less is more approach.
