I have had a Canon 6D for years but never thought of buying this essential accessory until now. This is why you should read the manual when you buy a camera!

So what is the piece of kit I'm talking about?

It is the Canon Camera Focusing Screen Eg-d - Type D ( Matte With Grid ) For The Eos 5d Mk Ii, (yes apparently it fits on the Canon 6D as well).

I used to have e grid focussing screen on my Canon 5D, but did not know I could get one for the Canon 6D. Apparently it does not give rule of thirds grid lines, but I can live with that - I want horizontal and vertical lines that will help with my composition.

I was browsing Amzon with no particular thing in mind when I came across this thing that I just ordered.

I am going to fit this over the weekend and will report further. My one concern is that when I use Live View on my Canon 6D it gives me the grid view that I want, and as I use Live View a lot with this ace attachment that I fits over the LCD screen in my Canon 6D which I bought from Amazon.

What will this new screen give me in Live VIew? I know that there is a custom change for this screen, which thinking about it is where I came across this screen, not Amazon browsing.

Which does bring me onto an important point which I would like to share with you all. When you buy a new camera/ phone/ device there is one thing you really should do.

Sorry to shout but why do we buy stuff costing, lets be honest, a lot of money, without learning about everything these wonderful bits of kit can do.

Buy something, Read the manual. And then you know what that thing can actually do.
