Funky Photography in Dorset – Car Park Shot

This is a shot of a car park in Poole.

I have been bold with my editing – I wanted to make this a punchy image. Having said that I have muted the colours somewhat. It is all about the gritty textures.

I like going to places which you would not exactly describe as photogenic and try to get something interesting.

Street photography is something that lots of photographers talk about, which I am getting more and more interested in. Although what the market is I am not really sure.

But I enjoy it, so am using this approach to help me develop my style using different subjects.

So what have I done to this image?

Mainly Lightroom. With a bit of Photoshop to remove unwanted objects (cars), making this quite an anonymous location.

HDR merge, which I love.

Lightroom – boost the contrast. Correct the distortion form the fish-eye lens. Boost the vibrance. A bit of localised colour adjustment. Sharpen. Export. Post.

Thats it!

It’s not commercial work for a client – it is fun stuff for me so I can be a bit rough and ready with my editing.

I have just completed a coemmercial shoot where I had to hand edit 53 images – each one taking a minimum of 10 minutes work, so a bit of quick sliders adjuetment gives me a nice break.

I hope you enjoy this image – a prize for whoever works out where it was taken!
