The next image in my series of black and white architectural photography images features a picture of a red London Bus. Yes London buses, famous for being red.
Why a black and white image?
Good question.
Why not I say. A London bus in black and white is fine, and provides the foreground for the picture of skyscraper buildings in Canary Wharf.
Editing of this image from the colour version below to the black and whiter version above consisted of the following.
Firstly, I browsed the presets quickly and chose “Full dynamic smooth”. I just preferred the effect that’s all. Nothing technical – I just liked the effect on this image.
Next I went through the filters, and chose the orange one. I will post this image with each filter selected to show the difference they can make to an image. Obviously the green filter worked the best having such a big prominent lump of red colour in the foreground!

I like this image, which I took with and without the red bus in. The streak of light raking down the face of the building was actually there – I think I saw this when I took the picture (but cant be sure as it was some time ago),
I prefer the picture with the bus in, as it adds some colour to the scene and places the location as London.
PS – I removed a No Entry sign, down in the bushes to the right of the bus. This removal was actually done in Lightroom, using the Spot removal brush. You can get away with this when you want to get rid of something within something random such as the foliage in this image.
