I use a Canon 6D.
The Canon 6D is 4 years old. But I love my Canon DSLR, which I use most days, and have never had any problems with other than when I dropped it. And when I say dropped it I really dropped it, onto a rock hard floor. A floor in Corfe Castle.
So for all those Canon haters out there who complain about the lack of innovation, features and the like remember this.
Some of us just want to take pictures, and are not interested in a lot of the fancy technology that is available.
What do I want in a camera? What are my priorities?
- Image quality.
- Reliability.
- Ease of use.
These are my basic needs for my camera. Image quality is my top priority. And the image quality of the Canon 6D is fantastic.
Add ease of use and reliability and that is what I need. Not want. Need. And get in the Canon 6D.
Having said that, the camera I had before the Canon 6D was the Canon 5D, which was a fantastic camera. I am still publishing images taken on my Canon 5D 10 year ago, and no-one can tell that the images are taken from an “older” camera
But moving to the Canon 6D from the 5D was brilliant. And time does move on, as does technology.
So what enhancements (I use that term deliberately) would I like to see to the Canon 6D?
- A newer, better quality sensor.
- Better low light performance.
- Extended ISO.
- An articulating screen.
- A larger screen that you can actually see in daylight. And a screen that provides previews of the RAW files.
- Better software on my IPhone for remote shooting.
- In camera HDR with RAW files.
Bracketing with more than three images in a bracketed set – 5. 7. 9 – whatever I decide. Footnote. I can change from the default 3 to 2, 5 or 7. So that is fine. I just forgot I could change this.
For the GPS to not drain the battery when the camera is turned off. This really bugs me.
This is all I want from the Canon 6D Mark 2. And all the things that I already have in the current Canon 6D of course.
I do not really care about anything else.
I would like some more lenses, but the ones I have cover me for 95% of the things I do. I will write a separate post on my Canon lenses.
So what is the next Canon 6D going to have?
I don’t know. I have heard a few rumours on the podcasts I listen to.
I will now look into this and see what might be included in the next version of my favourite camera ever, the Canon 6D. I will post my findings shortly.
Who knows, it might be that Canon are going to make my wishes come true. Oh no to do that they would have to send me a new one. On a long-term loan. Of say 4 years. Till the Canon 6D Mark 3 comes out.
The mark 1 version of the Canon 6D (which I am using at the time of writing)is currently available to buy from Amazon for £1450 at the time of writing (but there are only two in stock as I write this?).
